Testers

Test apps safely through Google Play.

For each test, you receive a Google Play invitation link. Installation and updates come directly through the Play Store—without APK files from unknown sources.

Join with the invitation link

  1. Open the link with the Google Account that was approved for the test. The same account must be active in the Play Store on your Android device.
  2. If the invitation uses a Google Group, join that group first. For an email list, the exact Google Account address must be included.
  3. On the Google page, choose “Become a tester” or “Join the test”. The invitation link alone does not install the app.
  4. Then open the offered Play Store link and install the app there. Before public release, the app often cannot be found through Play Store search.
  5. Install updates through Google Play as well. This gives you the version released to your test track.

The link works only after Google Play lists the test release as published. The first rollout and later changes can take several hours to become available.

Which test track is this?

Internal test

For quick checks with up to 100 selected testers. New builds are usually available within a few minutes.

Closed test

For a controlled group managed by email list or Google Group. Only eligible signed-in accounts can join.

Open test

For a larger audience. Anyone with access to the open test can join and send private feedback.

For personal Play Console accounts created after November 13, 2023, Google requires a closed test with at least 12 testers who remain opted in continuously for 14 days before publication. If we invite you for this, please stay in the test for the stated period.

What useful feedback includes

Use the app as you would in everyday life. The following is especially helpful:

  • Launch, setup and the main workflows.
  • Permission prompts and clear error or empty states.
  • Behaviour after an update, restart or switching between apps.
  • Layout on your device, especially on small screens, with large text and in dark mode.
  • Crashes, incorrect results or steps that feel unclear.

When reporting an issue, include the app and version, Android version, device model, expected result, actual result and precise steps to reproduce it.

Test purchases are a separate step

Joining an app test does not automatically make in-app purchases free. Test purchases are free only when your Google Account is also configured as a license tester and Google Play treats the transaction as a test purchase.

Start a purchase only when we explicitly ask you to. Always check the Google Play dialog before confirming and cancel if a real amount would be charged.

If the link or installation does not work

  • Check that the browser and Play Store use the same approved Google Account.
  • Join the Google Group first if the invitation is managed through one.
  • After a new release, wait a few hours and then open the invitation link again.
  • Do not rely only on Play Store search; use the installation link on the opt-in page.
  • If you already joined the internal test, leave it before joining a closed or open test.
  • If the problem remains, send the exact Google Play error message through the support page.

Leave the test

Open the same invitation or opt-in link and choose “Leave the program”. You will stop receiving test updates; an installed app remains on the device until you uninstall it.

To switch to another test track, first leave the current test and then open the new invitation link.

Privacy and safety

The invitation link does not give NoShit Development access to your Google password or Google Account. Google handles participation and distribution through Google Play. The app's own privacy policy still applies while you use it.
